2001 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the negative battery cable on 2001 Buick Park Avenue?
A: Repairing the battery negative cable requires using replacement wires that duplicate the original size and shape and directing the cable paths just like the original setup. First access the battery negative cable transition block cable protector cover before unconnecting the cable from its positions at the negative battery cable transition block and side rail. Raise the vehicle then disconnect the battery negative cable from both the engine block and electrical harness conduit wire ties on the engine frame. Take the battery negative cable off the electrical harness conduit then remove it from the vehicle. Installation requires you to feed the new battery negative cable through the electrical harness conduit before securing the electrical harness conduit wire ties onto the engine frame following the Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Secure the battery negative cable bolt to the engine block using torque to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). Drop the vehicle while you install and tighten the battery negative cable to side rail bolt to 20 N.m (15 lb ft). After completing the process of connecting the battery negative cable to the battery negative cable transition block close the cable protector cover.
