  A: The process of replacing the Fuel Rail assembly requires release of fuel system pressure as a first step. The Fuel Rail assembly needs cleaning with gm x-30a engine cleaner or equivalent using spray technique but no liquid cleaning solvent should be used. You must disconnect the Fuel Rail from the fuel feed and return pipes (2,3) along with the Fuel Pressure Regulator vacuum hose and the pcv air tube and PCV Valve which will be detached from the cam cover. The process begins with moving the coolant surge tank inlet pipe and then removing the Fuel Rail bracket retainer nut while disconnecting each Fuel Injector electrical connector from the electrical system. Place the harness to the side before removing the Fuel Rail attaching studs to take away the Fuel Rail itself. Peacefully discard the seals that form lower o-ring parts of the injector system. The procedure of disassembly requires complete removal of fuel injectors and Fuel Pressure Regulator components. Move to install the Fuel Pressure Regulator first followed by the fuel injectors later during replacement. Remote the Fuel Pressure Regulator vacuum hose (2,3) and then join the fuel feed and return pipes (2,3) to the Fuel Rail. After connecting the negative Battery Cable you need to check for fuel leaks by turning the ignition on during a 2-second period followed by shutting it off for 10 seconds and a final turn on check for leaks. Install the Fuel Injector sight shield as the last step.
