2001 Chevrolet Corvette Power Steering Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the power steering pump on 2001 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Starting the Power Steering Pump replacement process requires removal of the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) bracket with its components followed by draining the power steering fluid reservoir and removing Power Steering Pump pulley. The removal process starts with disconnecting both the Power Steering Reservoir outlet pipe/hose and power steering pressure hose from their mounts on the pump. The Power Steering Pump can be detached from its rear bracket after removing its three mounting bolts. The installation starts with attaching the Power Steering Pump to the rear bracket then moving on to the front bracket attachment. Four bolts should be used to secure the pump with torque set at 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). You should first reconnect the power steering pressure hose as well as the Power Steering Reservoir outlet pipe/hose. Furthermore you must reinstall the Power Steering Pump pulley and fluid reservoir. To complete the installation you should first fasten the bpmv bracket together with the bpmv unit while completing a bleeding operation of the power steering system.
