2001 GMC Safari Dipstick Tube Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Dipstick Tube on 2001 GMC Safari?
A: The process starts with engine cover removal together with the oil level indicator. Sever the transmission fluid fill tube from the oil level indicator tube through the bolt and split the upper tube half off from the lower tube half. The first step is to eliminate old sealer from both tubes before removing the oil level indicator tube bolt. Extract the oil level indicator tube from the engine using a twisting motion and thoroughly clean both the engine block and the oil level indicator tube of old sealer. When installing the device first seal the engine attachment area on the lower tube with GM P/N 12346004 or equivalent substance before attaching it to the engine at that location. Insert and tighten the engine oil level indicator tube to the transmission fluid fill tube with its bolt at 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.) before placing back the oil level indicator and engine cover.
