2002 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front shock absorber on 2002 Buick Park Avenue?
A: You need to start the strut assembly replacement by undoing the bolts that hold the strut mount then lift your vehicle with support in place. Begin by removing the wheel along with the tire and disconnect the abs front wheel speed sensor connector. Then disconnect the speed sensor bracket that mounts on the strut. After taking out the bolts that hold the strut to the knuckle you must keep the knuckle in place to stop Ball Joint or wheel drive shaft damage. Start by taking out the Brake Line bracket from the strut before removing both the strut to steering knuckle bolts and nuts to extract the strut from the vehicle. Lower the vehicle then place the strut back into its position while making sure to set the strut mount to body bolts at 47 nm (35 ft. Lbs.). Redefy the vehicle and mount the strut into its placement against the steering knuckle while tightening bolts and nuts to 185 nm (136 ft. Lbs.). First install the Brake Line along with retaining bolt to the strut before proceeding with speed sensor bracket installation which requires a 17 nm (13 ft. Lbs.) torque. The abs front wheel speed electrical sensor connector needs reinstallation as you install the tire and wheel assembly then lower the vehicle and execute front wheel alignment.
