2003 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace a shock absorber on 2003 Buick Park Avenue?
A: Raising and supporting the vehicle enables Shock Absorber replacement when performed with tire and wheel removal. A jack stand should hold the lower Control Arm before disconnecting the automatic level control air tube from the Shock Absorber. Take out both Shock Absorber lower retaining bolts before removing the trunk trim to expose the shock upper mounting nuts. Start by taking the Shock Absorber upper cover off the vehicle followed by removal of the upper retaining nuts then Shock Absorber reinforcement and finally extracting the shock from the vehicle. Start by reinserting the Shock Absorber into the vehicle while observing all steps mentioned in the fastener notice in service precautions. Place the Shock Absorber together with reinforcement and retaining nuts before tightening the upper retaining nuts to 20 nm (15 foot pounds). The installation sequence includes putting on the Shock Absorber cover afterward. Install the trunk trim along with Shock Absorber lower retaining bolts while torquing them to 24 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). An automatic level control air tube should be connected to the Shock Absorber before reinstalling the tire with its wheel and lowering the vehicle down.
