2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the radiator (Body Vin Code 3) on 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer?
A: Replacement of the Radiator (Body Vin Code 3) begins with draining coolant from the Radiator followed by refrigerant recovery. Before you continue lift the vehicle and if the lower Radiator support shield exists remove it. Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to reposition the outlet Radiator Hose clamp before extracting the outlet Radiator Hose . During this procedure disconnect the transmission cooler lines from the Radiator. Start by lowering the vehicle before removing the cooling fan and shroud and then the Radiator support diagonal brace. You must disconnect the Radiator's coolant recovery line and then take out the Radiator and the bolts that attach the condenser to the Radiator. Begin by securing the condenser to the Radiator then tighten bolts retaining the condenser to the Radiator to 28 nm (21 ft. Lbs.). Afterward install both the Radiator itself and the cooling fan with shroud. Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to position the outlet Radiator Hose clamp correctly then install the outlet Radiator Hose while using vehicle elevators. Complete the transmission cooler line installations by attaching them to the Radiator then put on any lower Radiator support shield before lowering the vehicle once more. Complete the Radiator-cooling system installation by connecting the coolant recovery hose and redoing the Radiator support diagonal brace while also filling the coolant and examining transmission fluid level.
