2002 GMC Envoy Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the thermostat on 2002 GMC Envoy?
A: First remove all coolant from the Radiator before performing the Thermostat replacement. The hose clamp pliers (J 38185) will release the outlet hose clamp at the water inlet of the Thermostat before the outlet hose can be removed from its position. After you detach the water inlet bolts you can pull off the Thermostat Housing before removing it from the engine block. Wipe down both the Thermostat Housing and the engine block's sealing surface. Fit the Thermostat Housing to the engine block water inlet and tighten the bolts to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Place engine coolant inside the hose's inner diameter before attaching the outlet hose to the Thermostat with its clamp. After filling the cooling system with correct coolant solution, verify that all sealing areas remain leak-free when the engine starts.
