How to replace the input transfer case seal on 2002 GMC Envoy?

Bearing in mind vehicle elevation is the first step to replace the input shaft seal. The Transfer Case assembly should be removed with caution during seal prying to prevent damage to any Transfer Case surfaces or shafts because such damage can lead to leakage or possibly require a component replacement. The front input shaft seal must be pried out from the Transfer Case by using a flat-bladed screwdriver and then taken out. Put the new input shaft seal in position on the input shaft while using the j 42738 seal installer (J 42738) to fit the seal correctly. The process ends with reinstallation of the Transfer Case assembly followed by Transfer Case fluid inspection and vehicle lowering.
