The procedure starts by disconnecting the Spark Plug wire from cylinder number 6 and removing the oil level indicator together with its bracket bolt followed by extracting the oil level indicator tube. Clean the oil level indicator tube and apply gm sealant p/n 12345493 (Canadian P/N 10953488) or an equivalent on the tube at 12.7 mm (0.50 inch) below the bead. Firmly mount the engine block-installed oil level indicator tube by placing the fastener notice in service precautions followed by tightening the bracket bolt to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). The last procedure includes reinstalling the oil level indicator while reattaching the Spark Plug wire to the number 6 cylinder Spark Plug.
