Begin by removing the Brake Master Cylinder from the vehicle then fix the mounting flange into a bench vise to reach the primary Piston located at the back. Before removing the reservoir cap users should clean its surrounding area along with the diaphragm for inspection of cuts or cracks or nicks or deformation to replace any damaged components. Use a smooth round-ended tool to depress the primary Piston then extract the Piston retainer before you can remove the primary Piston assembly. Low pressure filtered non-lubricated air should enter the front outlet port with plugged cylinder inlet and rear outlet ports to eliminate the secondary Piston along with primary and secondary seals and return spring. Remove the complete primary Piston assembly with its Piston retainer and seals for disposal. Master cylinders should be cleaned externally and internally with denatured alcohol before inspecting for damage such as cracks, scoring, pitting and corrosion. If issues appear replace the master cylinder. Lubricate the master cylinder bore, secondary Piston , and return spring along with all overhaul components using delco supreme 11(r) (GM P/N 12377967, Canadian P/N 992667) or equivalent dot-3 brake fluid from a sealed and clean container. Use filtered air to dry all components before the procedure. Install the lubricated new primary seal and retainer with the new secondary seal onto the secondary Piston then position the lubricated return spring and secondary Piston assembly into the cylinder bore before installing the lubricated new primary Piston assembly . A round-ended tool should be used to depress the primary Piston for installing the new Piston retainer before reinstalling the master cylinder reservoir and its cap and diaphragm. The installation process ends with the replacement of the master cylinder within the vehicle.
