How to replace the Return Power Steering Hose on 2003 Chevrolet Malibu?

The replacement of power steering return hoses requires belt belt removal from Power Steering Pump pulley as a starting point. The first step involves releasing the Power Steering Hose retainer nut followed by the retainer then you can disconnect the power steering return hose from its position on the Power Steering Pump. Drain the return hose from both the retainer and the power steering gear while performing the removal on a vehicle hoist. The power steering return hose attachment onto the vehicle must begin by following hose installation rules for straight alignment while avoiding bends and avoiding tight hose curvature. Crank the power steering repair fitting between the power steering gear and the return hose until it reaches 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.). Lower the vehicle after you connect the hose to the retainer and securely tighten the coupling at the Power Steering Pump to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.). Fasten the Power Steering Hose retainer with its retainer nut by torquing the nut to 5 nm (45 inch lbs.). After checking that the Power Steering Hose has proper space from the exhaust manifold install the Drive Belt to the Power Steering Pump pulley while performing a power steering system air-bleeding operation.
