2003 Chevrolet S10 Fuel Pressure Regulator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the fuel pressure regulator on 2003 Chevrolet S10?
A: The service and repair of the Fuel Pressure Regulator starts with removing the upper intake manifold assembly. Use a shop towel underneath the Fuel Pressure Regulator to catch fuel while you remove the retainer clip by hand then gently pull and twist the regulator from the housing. Before servicing the regulator you must remove its lower o-ring, the assembly filter and upper o-ring along with back up ring. The housing of the Fuel Pressure Regulator needs coverage to avoid contamination and the o-rings must be thrown away. A necessary inspection of the filter screen should be performed before reinstalling the Fuel Pressure Regulator. Manufacturers suggest replacing the regulator if contamination is detected. Place clean engine oil on the new o-rings before you install the regulator seal back up ring and then the regulator seal upper o-ring followed by the regulator assembly filter and finally the regulator seal lower o-ring. Fitting the regulator will require you to direct the vacuum tube downwards before installing it in the regulator retainer clip before placing the Fuel Pressure Regulator retainer clip and the upper manifold assembly. Return to the battery life installation, put on the fuel filler cap then reinstall the negative Battery Cable. To inspect for leaks follow the procedure of turning on the ignition for 2 seconds followed by an off period of 10 seconds and then back to on and check for fuel leaks.
