2003 GMC Envoy Radiator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the radiator on a Body VIN Type 3 (GMT 360) on 2003 GMC Envoy?
A: The first step when replacing the body vin type 3 (GMT 360) Radiator involves draining the coolant from the Radiator while recovering refrigerant. Before proceeding with the Radiator replacement start by lifting the vehicle so you can uninstall the lower Radiator support shield when it is present. Use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to shift the outlet Radiator Hose clamp after which you can remove the outlet hose from its location on the Radiator. The next step requires you to disconnect both transmission cooler lines before lowering the vehicle down. Start the repair by removing the cooling fan and shroud elements and continuing with removal of the Radiator support diagonal brace then the coolant recovery line. Remove the Radiator by disconnecting its side panels from the shroud before removing both components and their retaining bolts to the condenser. Installation starts by attaching the condenser to the Radiator while installing its bolts before tightening them to 28 nm (21 ft. Lbs.). Installation involves placing the Radiator followed by inserting the cooling fan together with the shroud. Raising the vehicle enables the installation of the outlet Radiator Hose while hose clamp pliers (J 38185) help reposition the outlet Radiator Hose clamp before connecting transmission cooler lines. Follow this procedure: first lower the vehicle then install the coolant recovery hose and the Radiator diagonal brace and the lower Radiator support shield before filling the cooling system.
