- Q: How to replace the rear Brake Disc on a dual-wheeled on 2003 GMC Savana 3500?A: In reversing the rear brake rotor on a dual wheel vehicle, first release park brake and lift and support the vehicle. Take off the tire and wheel assembly and then remove the hub and rotor,a marking of relation between them. Mount the hub and rotor assembly on a hydraulic press and press out the wheel studs using the press. To install, align the hub and rotor then new wheel studs by installing the strut followed by 4 washers on each stud and a lug nut with the flat side facing washers. Tighten the lug nut so as to pull the stud into the hub and rotor assembly and let the hub sit tight on the rotor and the stud be air-tight before taken off the lug nut and washers. Mount the hub and rotor assembly back onto the car, then the tire and wheel assembly. Lower the vehicle, turn engine off and apply the brake pedal slowly to about 2/3 of its travel distance and release it gently. Wait for 15s and repeat this process to get a firm pedal until the brake caliper pistons and brake pads are appropriately seated. Lastly, top up the master cylinder reservoir with clean brake fluid to the required amount.
