How to replace the Tail Light on 2004 Cadillac CTS?

To replace the tail lamp, first remove rear compartment sill plate after opening the rear compartment. Pull the rear compartment trim panel back and remove a tail lamp connector from the body main harness connector . Unscrew the fasteners that are holding the tail lamp to the body, pull on tail lamp assembly to release clips (1, 2) that hold it. Then, tug on the tail lamp harness to disengage the tail lamp harness grommet from the body and pull the tail lamp assembly out of the vehicle. For installation, mount the tail lamp to the body and feed the tail lamp harness to the body, pressing the tail lamp harness grommet until fully in position. Mount the tail lamp locators in the body until the tail lamp retainers (1, 2) seat in the body, then secure the tail lamp to the body with the fasteners and tighten them to 6 n.m (53 lb in). Attach the tail lamp harness connector to the body main harness connector, replace the rear compartment trim panel, install rear compartment sill plate and close the rear compartment.
