2004 Cadillac SRX Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the ABS Control Module on 2004 Cadillac SRX?
A: The first step to replace the ABS Control Module (ABSCM) requires turning the ignition OFF because it prevents equipment damage. First lift and stabilize the vehicle before taking out the air deflector shield along with the right front wheelhouse liner. You do not need to remove the washer solvent container yet its securing bracket needs to be detached. Clear the surrounding area of the ABSCM without courting disassembly dirt to enter disassembled ABS units. Start by pushing behind the retainer of the ABSCM electrical connector and rotate its connector tab forward to unlock it before disconnecting the electrode. Place the electrode aside for safekeeping. The 4 ABSCM to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) screws should be removed for disposal while cleaning the surface of the ABSCM/BPMV assembly. The ABSCM requires replacement so you should disassemble it from the BPMV before cleaning the surface where the BPMV seal attaches. Connect the internal pump motor connector to the new ABSCM before you install the unit onto the BPMV. New ABSCM/BPMV screws should be applied to fix the ABSCM onto the BPMV while utilizing a sequence method (1/4) to fasten screws with 5 Nm (44 inch lbs.) torque. Plug the electrical connector of the ABSCM to its port and fix the tab of the connector to remain in place. Reinstall the washer solvent container bracket and wheelhouse liner and air deflector shield to the vehicle after lowering it. Execute the scan tool to eliminate stored diagnostic trouble codes from the system. The Service Programming System (SPS) should be utilized for programming the new ABSCM when installed. The ABS Diagnostic System Check should be performed while recalibrating the brake pedal position sensor when necessary.
