2004 Chevrolet Aveo Coil Springs Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What precautions should be taken when replacing rear coil springs on 2004 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: When removing the rear Coil Springs, be careful not to use a twin post type of a hoist as the rear axle assembly can easily slip creating a risk of personal injury when you engage in the task. Lift and support the vehicle using a frame-contact hoist if possible, and then securely jack-stand the rear control arms. If there is a need for a twin-post hoist, lift the body and angle the control arms as required. Start by lifting out the wheel, then remove the bolts of the right and left shock absorbers. Lower the rear axle to remove the springs, and the top insulator. Before fitting the new springs fit the upper insulators to the body with the use of adhesive to hold them in place as you lift to axle assembly and springs. Mount the upper insulator and mount the lower Bumper and mount the springs and lift the axle. Next, install the shock absorbers, making sure that the axle assembly is at trim height before tightening the attachment bolts of the shock absorbers. Finally, place the wheel back, remove the jack stands, and bring down the vehicle.
