2004 Chevrolet Aveo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the thermostat in a 1.4L/1.6L DOHC engine on 2004 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: To replace the Thermostat in 1.4l/1.6l dohc engine, make sure of safety by draining the coolant to prevent boiling it from spewing out because of taking the pressure cap out of the radiator before the engine is cool. Remove the upper Radiator Hose and throttle body coolant inlet hose from the Thermostat Housing and take the Thermostat bolts and remove Thermostat house. Remove the Thermostat and the gasket, examining the gasket for cracks or damage and the valve seat for any obstruction in seating. Also, verify if the Thermostat works correctly as well. For installation, tighten the Thermostat and housing to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.), mount the upper Radiator Hose with the help of a hose clamp and reconnect the throttle body coolant inlet hose. Lastly, fill the engine cooling system.
