How to replace the parking brake cable on 2004 Chevrolet Colorado?

Begin the replacement of the park brake release cable by setting free the park brake pedal before you remove the knee bolster panel. Press the locking tabs related to the release handle before you remove it. Proceed with caution when pressing the lower dash panel locking tabs for the release cable before removing it both from the lower dash panel and from the park brake pedal mounting bracket followed by the release lever. When installing the new release cable always verify its proper seating position within the release lever. Secure the release cable onto the release lever by making sure all locking tabs embed properly into place when the installation is correct. Correct installation makes a snap or clip sound occur. First connect the release cable to the park brake pedal mounting bracket followed by its installation to the knee bolster panel before reinstalling the panel with the handle to the cable.
