- Q: How to remove and replace the Seat Cushion Pad and trim cover on 2004 Chevrolet Corvette?A: You must begin seat cushion trim cover pad removal by taking out the seat frame items including seat belt buckle and seat and recliner handle using a suitable blunt-ended tool to push down the spring clip followed by withdrawing the handle from the shaft. The first removal step requires taking out the side trim panel (power seat) along with the hog-rings from the rear flap before unfastening the draw string through flap elevation. First detach the rear hog-rings from the seat cushion trim cover before removing the foam pad and cover. Trim the foam pad by separating it from the cover. Install the recliner mechanism by making sure all retention clips from the cable are properly fastened into the actuators. Cutting the draw string requires removal of the hog-rings at the seat cushion cover rear flap followed by draw string disassembly. After creating a 100 mm (2 in) cut across the center of the cushion cover in front of the draw string's edge you must tie the string ends into a square knot to extend past the knot by one inch. The draw string needs to be tied into a square knot with its ends embedded at least one inch beyond the knot while extending from the cushion cover. Set the trim cover over the seat cushion foam before installing the cover and foam to the seat frame and tightening the draw string before making a secure tie at the rear of the seat. To secure the rear corners of the seat cushion trim cover use hog-rings while wrapping the front seat material around cut draw strings before attaching it to the string with hog-rings which must have their points facing upward. The final step involves connecting the seat belt buckle to its seat frame position followed by tightening the nut on the seat belt side mounting to a torque of 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
