  A: The first step to replace the filler tube on a 1500 crew cab involves removing Fuel Tank filler housing to body torx(R) screws together with the retainer , then disconnecting the Fuel Tank filler housing from the Fuel Tank fill pipe by its bolts. First disconnect the filler housing from the body and raise the vehicle slightly while supporting it through a stand. Unfasten the fuel feed ground wire bolt from the pipe while detaching the ground wire from the chassis frame. Proceed with filling tank precautions using two steps for removal of the Fuel Tank fill pipe. First loosen the Fuel Tank fill pipe clamp near the tank opening then detach the recirculation line quick connect fitting at the tank. The opening needs a fitting cap to stop polluting substances from entering the Fuel Tank. Place the cap aside when opening the Fuel Tank. Install the fill pipe into the opening while connecting the recirculation line quick connect at the tank side. Remember to tighten the Fuel Tank fill pipe clamp to 2.5 n.m (22 lb in). Install the Fuel Tank fill pipe ground wire onto the frame with correct positioning of the anti-rotation tab followed by tightening the ground wire bolt to 9 n.m (80 lb in). Lower the vehicle and put the Fuel Tank filler housing into place by tightening its Fuel Tank filler housing to Fuel Tank fill pipe bolts to 2.3 n.m (20 lb in). Place the Fuel Tank filler housing by applying torx(R) screws and the retainer through body holes then securely tighten them to 2.3 n.m (20 lb in).
