2005 Buick Century Shock Absorber Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the front shock absorber assembly on 2005 Buick Century?
A: Begin your strut assembly replacement process by removing all strut-to-body mount nuts before you can raise and support the car. Start by taking off the wheel assembly before you disconnect the stabilizer shaft link from the strut. Remove the bolt from the brake hose bracket and the strut assembly before making a marker line between the strut and knuckle. Keeping the knuckle after removing the strut-to-knuckle bolts protects both the Ball Joint and wheel drive shaft from damage. Remove the strut from the vehicle's frame. Installation requires correct placement of the strut by mounting it to knuckle bolts after tightening them to 120 nm (89 ft. Lbs.). Screw the bolt back into place between the strut assembly and brake hose bracket and torque it to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.). Connect the stabilizer shaft link to the strut followed by tire and wheel reinstallation. When finished installing the strut to body mount nuts secure them at 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.) then lower the vehicle for wheel alignment calibration.
