First remove the door control module when necessary before you eliminate the water deflector. The installation process starts with breaking the connection of the check link from pillar fasteners before removing the close-out grommet. After disassembling the check link from the door fasteners you can access the door check which must be removed from inside the door. Insert the check link into the door while loading the check link studs through the access holes on the door inner panel such that check link to door fasteners receive a torque setting of 9 N.m (80 lb in). Tighten the check link arm to the door hinge pillar fasteners to 9 N.m (80 lb in) after connecting them to each other. Reinstall the close-out grommet and the water deflector and put back the door control module only if it was eliminated. Put back the door trim panel as the last step.
