2005 Buick Park Avenue Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Turn Signal Switch on 2005 Buick Park Avenue?
A: You need to disable the SIR system through the proper safety steps before starting the switch replacement work. Record the wire harness connector exit at the abrasion sleeve on the steering column harness before you take off the top and bottom trims. Unplug the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly connector from its connection to the SIR coil system wire. Take the buttons from their slots on the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly to disconnect it from the electric bulkhead. Unfasten the two pan head screws and separate the switch assembly from its base. Take the entire switch unit out from the column tilting mechanism. Put the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly onto the steering column tilt head assembly with the electrical contact touching the turn signal cancel cam assembly. Use a pan head tapping screw and connect it with two screws, one into screw to 3 Nm (27 inch lbs.) and screw to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.). Push the two connectors into bulkhead connector and plug the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly connector to the SIR coil connector. Return the abrasion sleeve over the steering column wire harness assembly and position its ignition lock wires and connector as they should. Align the wire harness assembly with the wire harness strap and place it back in. Put back the upper and lower trim panels and activate the SIR system.
