Buick Park Avenue Turn Signal Switch Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the multifunction turn signal switch on Buick Park Avenue?
A: Initially, disengage the SIR system in order to replace the turn signal switch. Disconnect the upper and lower trim covers and remember to make note of the connector from the abrasion sleeve on the steering column wire harness assembly for reassembly. Disconnect the turn signal and the turn signal switch assembly connector from the SIR system coil connector and detach the wire harness assembly away from the wire harness strap. Pull out the two connectors of the turn signal and turn signal switch assembly from the bulkhead connector. Use the two pan head tapping screws to take out the turn signal and turn signal switch assembly and take the assembly out from the steering column tilt head assembly. With installation, install the turn signal and turn signal switch assembly onto the steering column tilt-head assembly where the electrical contact should be seated on the turn signal cancel cam assembly. Secure the assembly with the two pan head tapping screws and tightening the top screw to 3 Nm (30 inch lbs.) and side screw to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.). Screw the two connectors off the turn signal and turn signal switch assembly into the bulkhead connector and secure the assembly connector to SIR coil connector. Mount the abrasion sleeve back onto the steering column wire harness assembly, making sure the ignition lock cylinder case wire and connector are in the appropriate positions. Finally, place the wire harness assembly into the wire harness strap, reattach the upper and lower trim covers and enable the SIR system.
