2005 Buick Terraza Steering Shaft Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the intermediate steering shaft on 2005 Buick Terraza?
A: The initial step for intermediate Steering Shaft replacement requires performing two actions: position the Steering Column lock for preventing sir coil assembly misalignment and damage and ensure the front wheels face directly forward. The Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640) functions as a blocking device for the Steering Column. You need to secure the vehicle before reaching the lower pinch bolt by positioning the intermediate Steering Shaft seal. Adjust the power steering gear stub shaft lower pinch bolt before you disconnect the intermediate Steering Shaft from it. The left sound insulator needs removal after lowering the vehicle. First lock the Steering Column using a j 42640 Steering Column anti-rotation pin while you access the upper pinch bolt with the intermediate Steering Shaft seal in position. After removing both bolts disconnect the intermediate Steering Shaft from its Steering Column connections. The installation requires mounting the intermediate Steering Shaft between the Steering Column while tightening the upper pinch bolt to 48 nm (35 ft. Lbs.). After the Steering Column receives the intermediate Steering Shaft seal you should raise the vehicle for a second time to connect the Steering Shaft with the power steering gear stub shaft and secure the lower pinch bolt at 48 nm (35 ft. Lbs.). Lay the vehicle flat and install the Steering Column's intermediate Steering Shaft seal before putting the left sound insulator back in place and taking out the Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640).
