    Q:
How to replace the intermediate steering shaft on Buick Terraza? Posted by Customer
    A:
The initial step for intermediate Steering Shaft replacement requires performing two actions: position the Steering Column lock for preventing sir coil assembly misalignment and damage and ensure the front wheels face directly forward. The Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640) functions as a blocking device for the Steering Column. You need to secure the vehicle before reaching the lower pinch bolt by positioning the intermediate Steering Shaft seal. Adjust the power steering gear stub shaft lower pinch bolt before you disconnect the intermediate Steering Shaft from it. The left sound insulator needs removal after lowering the vehicle. First lock the Steering Column using a j 42640 Steering Column anti-rotation pin while you access the upper pinch bolt with the intermediate Steering Shaft seal in position. After removing both bolts disconnect the intermediate Steering Shaft from its Steering Column connections. The installation requires mounting the intermediate Steering Shaft between the Steering Column while tightening the upper pinch bolt to 48 nm (35 ft. Lbs.). After the Steering Column receives the intermediate Steering Shaft seal you should raise the vehicle for a second time to connect the Steering Shaft with the power steering gear stub shaft and secure the lower pinch bolt at 48 nm (35 ft. Lbs.). Lay the vehicle flat and install the Steering Column's intermediate Steering Shaft seal before putting the left sound insulator back in place and taking out the Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640).

    Q:
How to replace the intermediate steering shaft on Chevrolet Uplander? Posted by Customer
    A:
Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640) must insert into the Steering Column to lock it while the front wheels remain in a straight head position and the column remains in lock mode to avoid sir coil assembly damage. Move forward with bolt removal that holds the Steering Column then push it slightly toward the inside. After lifting the car set the intermediate shaft seal facing downward to reach the lower retention bolt. The power steering gear stub shaft receives its lower pinch bolt removal while technicians disconnect the intermediate Steering Shaft from the power steering gear stub shaft. The technician removes the left sound insulator after lowering the vehicle. Access the upper pinch bolt by repositioning the intermediate Steering Shaft seal before removing both the upper pinch bolt and disconnecting the intermediate Steering Shaft from the Steering Column. Following connection of the intermediate Steering Shaft to the Steering Column install the upper pinch bolt at the Steering Column with a torque of 48 n.m (35 lb ft). Secure the intermediate Steering Shaft seal onto the Steering Column while maintaining vehicle stability with support. Then attach the intermediate Steering Shaft to the power steering gear stub shaft before screwing the lower pinch bolt at the power steering gear stub shaft. Finally, tighten this bolt to 48 n.m (35 lb ft). The last step includes placing the intermediate Steering Shaft seal onto the power steering gear and then lowering the vehicle to reinstall Steering Column bolts before installing the left sound insulator and removing the Steering Column anti-rotation pin (J 42640) from the column.
