2005 Chevrolet Aveo Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 1 on 2005 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: To replace the heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 1, also unplug the negative Battery Cable (but do keep the pigtail on the HO2S and Oxygen Sensor (O2S)), it will affect sensor operation. Take care when handling the Oxygen Sensor to prevent any drops and the in-line electrical connector, as well as the louvered end should be free from grease, dirt, or pollutants; i must not use any cleaning solvents. If the pig tail wiring, connector, or terminal is harmed, simply change the Oxygen Sensor instead of fixing it. Do not use the contact cleaner on the sensor or vehicle harness connectors, and make sure there is no bare pigtail of the sensor and harness wires exposed or kinked, which may cause him to malfunction. Do not disconnect the ground lead from the Oxygen Sensor if so installed because it will provide the only path for it to "ground", failure to leave this lead in place could result in the failure, and if there is a peripheral seal on the vehicle manner connector it must stay in place to avoid water fouling the system. Packard's crimp and splice seals terminal repair kit should be used throughout the engine harness repair to prevent soldering and blockage of the air reference. Loose the front heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S1) connector and ho2s1 from the Exhaust Manifold if the engine temperature is over 48°c (120°F) to make easy the separation. With installation of new or service ho2s1, apply a special anti-seize solution on the threads in case required, mount the ho2s1 onto the Exhaust Manifold and tighten it to 42 n.m (31 lb ft). Lastly, connect the connector ho2s1 and reconnect Battery Cable to the negative terminal.
