  A: Start by removing the air cleaner outlet duct when servicing the Throttle Body. Check the Throttle Body bore and throttle plate through plate opening for buildup then examine the entire plate surface. Strong solvents and immersion cleaners should never be used on the Throttle Body assembly because they can damage both the idle air control valve alongside the Throttle Position Sensor and the sealed throttle shaft bearings and components that utilize o-rings or seals. Throttle Body damage from wire brushes or scrapers and solvent damage to throttle shaft bearing grease are two reasons against their use during servicing. A cleaning solution with methyl ethyl ketone should be avoided because this aggressive solvent offers no benefit to the cleaning process. Utilize a clean shop towel with top engine cleaner gm p/n 1052626 (Canadian P/N 993026) or equivalent to clean the Throttle Body bore and throttle plate. Too much sediment requires complete Throttle Body disassembly where you should clean it using a parts cleaning brush before submerging it into any solvent. After completing cleaning the Throttle Body install it and reinstall the air cleaner outlet duct.
