2005 Chevrolet Malibu Fuel Injector Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to clean fuel injectors effectively on 2005 Chevrolet Malibu?
A: Start by acquiring all the required tools which include fuel line shut-off adapters (J 37287) and Fuel Injector cleaner (J 35800-A) alongside 3/8 fuel line shut-off valve (J 42873-1), 5/16 return pipe shut-off valve (J 42873-2), 3/8 fuel pipe shut-off valve (J 42964-1), and 5/16 fuel pipe shut-off valve (J 42964-2). The exclusive use of gm top-engine cleaner requires no fuel tank addition and maintains 10 percent cleaning solution as the maximum concentration. If the odometer shows less than 100 miles (160 km), the vehicle owners should replace their fuel injectors rather than attempting an injector clean. The necessary cleaning solution volume amounts to 960 ml which equals two Fuel Injector cleaner (J 35800-A) tanks. The Fuel Injector cleaner (J 35800-A) requires us dealers to add two empty 24 ml (0.812 oz) gm top-engine cleaner (P/N 12346535) containers while canadian dealers must measure and fill it with 48 ml (1.62 oz) of top-engine cleaner (Canadian P/N 992872). The mixture requires 96 ml of top-engine cleaner combined with 864 ml of regular unleaded gasoline when working with alternative engine cleaning solutions. Before injecting gasoline into the cleaning tank, disable the vehicle fuel pump while disconnecting the fuel feed and return line and plugging them properly with shut-off valves. The Fuel Injector cleaner (J 35800-A) should be attached to the Fuel Rail with a 510 kpa (75 psi) pressure level until the engine stops running. Use the appropriate valves to stop the fuel lines then connect them back before running the car engine for two more minutes. During the balance test inspect the injector drops in fuel pressure and replace those which show pressure falls higher than 15 kpa (2 psi). The maintenance recommendation includes a fuel tank addition of one ounce port Fuel Injector cleaner (GM P/N 12345104 or Canadian P/N 10953467) per gallon of gasoline together with guidance for the customer to finish the treatment at their next fill-up. Regular gm port Fuel Injector cleaner use should continue every 5,000 km (3,000 mi) for injector cleanliness. A road test must be performed to verify the customer complaint has been fixed.
