2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer?
A: Relieving pressure from the fuel system should be the first step in Fuel Rail assembly replacement procedures. After disconnecting the fuel feed pipe from the Fuel Rail you can remove the Intake Manifold. Spray-clean the Fuel Rail assembly along with the Cylinder Head by using gm x-30a engine cleaner or its equivalent according to the package guidelines while keeping the Fuel Rail free of liquid cleaning agents. Remove the engine wire harness from the Fuel Injector harness in-line connector then extract the rocker cover fixture. Take out the Fuel Rail assembly by unbolting and removing its rail-attaching bolts with caution towards the injector electrical connector terminals and spray tips. Secure the fittings with caps to stop outside materials from getting inside. Discard the lower o-ring seals from each injector by removing them from their spray tip ends. Proceed to the installment steps if the Fuel Rail will be kept in the vehicle. Fluid injector wire harnesses must be removed from Fuel Rail before extracting fuel injectors from the Fuel Rail. The first installation step involves attaching the Fuel Injector harness to the Fuel Rail while the second step requires installing each Fuel Injector into the Fuel Rail. At installation time apply engine oil to new lower o-ring seals of the injectors before placing them at the spray tip end of each injector unit. Thread lock gm p/n 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) or equivalent must be applied to a 5 mm (0.2 in) band on each Fuel Rail bolt threads before torqueing them to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Installation requires connection of the Fuel Injector harness in-line connector to the rocker cover together with the engine wire harness and completing the fuel feed pipe attachment to the Fuel Rail and the Fuel Injector electrical connections. Reinstall the Intake Manifold until complete. Then connect the negative Battery Cable followed by a leak detection process using a sequence of turning on the ignition with engine off for 2 seconds, off for 10 seconds, then on with engine off and end by inspecting for fuel leaks.
