• Q: How to install the A/C Accumulator (ACDelco P/N 15-1697) in systems with an auxiliary system on 2005 GMC Savana 2500?

  A: Prior to installing the A/C Accumulator (ACDelco P/N 15-1697) in vehicles with an auxiliary system one must first recover the refrigerant from the a/c system. Cut the marked section from the condenser tube 20 mm (.75 inches) from the bend before measuring 42 mm (1.65 inches) from the first mark. Cut the designated part of the condenser tube with a tubing cutter while avoiding metal burrs to enter during the process of cutting and removal. Install nuts and ferrules on the condenser tube before removing A/C Accumulator o-rings unless manually specified. Also install the small end of the ferrules toward the nut. Place each side of condenser tube through a fitting consisting of the appropriate ferrule and nut where the ferrule points toward the nut. Fasten the A/C Accumulator onto the condenser tube while aligning its flow arrow to the Evaporator position before tightening the nuts to 34 n.m (25 lb ft). Install the o-rings to the condenser tube after removing the nuts from the A/C Accumulator before rehanging the nuts onto the accumulator while tightening them to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Install the condenser tube back to its place before evacuating and recharging the a/c system while using the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) for fitting inspection.
