2006 Buick Rendezvous Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heater Core on 2006 Buick Rendezvous?
A: The first step when replacing the Heater Core involves draining the cooling system fluids. Start by removing the wiper module followed by voiding the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose deployment then pulling off the air cleaner outlet duct. The first step is to disconnect the cruise control and throttle cables from the tbi mounting bracket to protect the cable housings from harm before removing the transmission fluid filler tube. The hose clamp pliers j 38185 should be used to remove the heater hose clamps from the Heater Core before disconnecting the heater hoses for capping off the Heater Core pipes to avoid coolant release inside the vehicle. First remove the screws that anchor the heater outlet duct followed by taking off center floor air outlet and right and left i/p insulators prior to eliminating the duct itself. The first step of Heater Core installation involves removing the i/p harness to Heater Core cover tie strap followed by Heater Core cover screws before proceeding with the Heater Core cover removal. Remove the retaining screw on the Heater Core pipe while removing the Heater Core from the hvac module case. Install the new Heater Core by inserting it into the hvac module case while using the Heater Core pipe retaining clamp screw which requires 0.9 n.m (8 lb in) torque. Install the Heater Core cover together with its retaining screws while tightening them to 0.9 n.m (8 lb in). Begin by attaching the heater outlet duct with its screws and afterward secure the i/p harness to Heater Core tie strap then the center floor air outlet and finish with the left and right i/p insulators installation. Secure the heater hose clamps by using hose clamp pliers (J 38185) when connecting the hoses to the Heater Core. To finalize the procedure install the transmission fluid filler tube as well as the air cleaner outlet duct followed by throttle and cruise control cable connection to the tbi mounting bracket and then reconnect the Brake Booster Vacuum Hose and wiper module installation. Complete the process by adding coolant fluid.
