2006 Chevrolet Aveo Coil Springs Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What precautions should be taken when removing rear coil springs on 2006 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: Do not use a twin-post type hoist to remove the rear springs because of the possibility that the rear axle assembly might slide causing that the person may be injured. Lift and properly support the vehicle with a frame contact hoist if possible and support the rear control arms with jack stands. If a twin-post hoist is needed, lift the body and raise the control arms with jack stands. Start by removing the wheel, then taking away the right and left Shock Absorber bolts. Lower the rear axle to take off the springs and the top insulator. Throughout installation of new springs at the same time fix the upper insulators to the body with adhesive for stabilization while lifting the axle assembly and springs. Mount the upper insulator and seat the lower Bumper, and install the springs, and lift the axle. Next, fit the shocks in a position where axle assembly is at trim level before fitting the Shock Absorber attachment bolts. Last, install the wheel, take out the jack stands, and drop the vehicle.
