The replacement of the tailgate handle in the rear compartment lid requires workers to start by opening the luggage compartment before removing the left side wheelhouse and rear quarter and rear trim panels. You should first disconnect the cable from its lock striker. First remove the driver front and rear seats and reposition the floor carpet at the left section before you disconnect the cable from the handle and take out the bolt and handle. Insert the new cable through the luggage area toward the passenger compartment then link it up to the handle. Insert the handle bolt then torque it to 8 N.m (71 lb in) before putting back the floor carpet. First reconnect the cable to the lock striker then install the lock striker followed by reinstalling front and rear seats. Install the left side wheelhouse, rear quarter and rear trim panels as the final step.
