2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Fuel Rail Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo?
A: Begin the process of replacing the Fuel Rail assembly by cleaning all contacts of the fuel and evaporative emission system while clearing the surrounding area for contamination purposes. This step requires first draining pressure from the fuel system. Started by taking off the air cleaner outlet duct before disconnecting electrical wires on evap purge solenoid , manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor , electronic throttle control (ETC) , oil pressure sensor , and valve lifter oil manifold . First disconnect the generator electrical connector after removing the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer and proceed to detach the main ignition coil harness electrical connector and both Fuel Injector electrical connectors (1, 2) before marking their positions for correct reinstallation. To proceed further detach the second cpa retainer and the main ignition coil harness electrical connector before disconnecting Fuel Injector electrical connectors at positions 2 and 4 while noting their original positions for reinstallation. Move harness retainers installed on the Fuel Rail toward a different position while conducting this operation. Connecting the technician should remove the fuel feed and evap lines while making note of the Fuel Rail ground strap's position (557). Disassemble the process by removing the intake manifold bolt (512) and ground strap (557) after which you should remove the Fuel Rail bolts (511). Careful lifting of Fuel Rail (510) along with its attached injectors from each bore must be followed by separate removal of fuel injectors when new Fuel Rail replacement is required. When performing the installation maintain new seals for the Fuel Injector O-Ring seals while treating the seals with clean engine oil for lubrication purposes. Fit the Fuel Rail assembly (510) containing the injectors between manifold bores then push it into place until all components have adequately seated. Caulk the Fuel Rail bolts (511) threads with a thread lock gm p/n 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) equivalent for 5 mm (0.2 in) before tightening them to 10 n.m (89 lb in). Use the ground strap (557) and intake manifold bolt (512). Pass these components through their respective holes under tension of 10 n.m (89 lb in). The fuel feed and evap lines get connected as you position the harness to the engine before installing the Fuel Rail retainer to corresponding tabs. Use the finger to identify the proper electrical Fuel Injector connectors (2, 4) before connecting them according to their marked references and then connect the main ignition coil harness electrical connector along with the cpa retainer . The Fuel Injector electrical connectors (1, 2) and main ignition coil harness electrical connector should be connected first followed by the installation of the second cpa retainer then the generator electrical connector . To complete the procedure connect the evap purge solenoid electrical connector along with the MAP Sensor connector and etc connector and oil pressure sensor connector and valve lifter oil manifold connector then reinstall the air cleaner outlet duct followed by cable connection and leak testing using the ignition on with engine off method followed by leak detection before installing the engine sight shield.
