2006 Chevrolet Uplander Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the fuel rail assembly on 2006 Chevrolet Uplander?
A: After relieving fuel system pressure the technician should install the Fuel Injector o-rings correctly while placing the black o-ring above and the brown o-ring below. Cleaning all engine fuel pipe connections together with their nearby regions prevents contamination while you remove fuel feed pipe retaining clips and disconnect the engine fuel feed pipe from the Fuel Rail assembly. The service begins by disconnecting the evap pipe from the evap canister purge solenoid valve before the serviceperson removes the upper Intake Manifold and disconnects the Fuel Injector harness from the Fuel Rail. The first procedure requires disconnecting the Coolant Temperature Sensor and Camshaft Position Sensor electrical connectors followed by the main Fuel Injector electrical connector. Pull off each Fuel Rail retaining bolt before removing the Fuel Rail assembly and detaching the o-ring seal from the spray tip ends of all injectors. Proceed to take away the fuel injectors from the Fuel Rail when needed. During Fuel Injector assembly position the injector nozzles into the lower Intake Manifold injector bores after applying gm p/n 12345616 lubrication material (Canadian P/N 993182). Push the Fuel Rail downward until all injectors reach full seat before installing the Fuel Rail bolts which should be torqued to 10 n.m (89 lb in). After Fuel Rail connection of the electric injector harness, apply gm p/n 12377900 lubricant (Canadian P/N 10953529) to electrical connectors before clipping them in place. After installing the main Fuel Injector electrical harness connector connect first the electrical connectors of the Camshaft Position Sensor and Coolant Temperature Sensor. Reinstall the upper Intake Manifold and connect the negative Battery Cable after you connect the engine fuel feed pipe to the Fuel Rail and the evap pipe to the evap canister purge solenoid valve. To confirm fuel leak existence turn on ignition for 2 seconds and off for 10 seconds before performing another ignition check.
