2007 Buick LaCrosse Evaporator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the evaporator core on 2007 Buick LaCrosse?
A: The first step to replace the evaporator core begins with HVAC module assembly removal followed by screw disassembly from the recirculation housing to the HVAC module assembly and finally releasing the recirculation housing. You must first take out the mode actuator by removing its securing screws from the HVAC module assembly. Discard the old seal rings before removing both bolts that secure the TXV to the evaporator core and extracting the TXV. The HVAC module assembly upper case needs removal from the lower case followed by the use of a small chisel to dismantle heat stakes. Place the HVAC module assembly case into separate pieces before extracting the evaporator core. You should add the correct amount of refrigerant oil to the system when replacing the evaporator according to the system capacity details. The evaporator core must get placed inside the HVAC module assembly lower case after installing new side and upper and two lower seals. Drill the dimples next to the heat stakes using a 5.5 mm (7/32 in) drill bit from the upper case interior before fixing the upper and lower HVAC module assembly case. Secure the upper and lower case together by installing new screws adjacent to heat stakes that should be tightened to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in). Secure the mode actuator through screws while tightening them to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in). The recirculation housing needs to be fixed to the HVAC module assembly using screws that you will tighten to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in). The technician starts by putting new sealing washers on the evaporator core while also installing the TXV followed by applying 7 N.m (62 lb in) torque on the securing bolts. Lastly, the HVAC module assembly returns to its place.
