2007 Buick LaCrosse Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heater Core on 2007 Buick LaCrosse?
A: The replacement of a heater core starts with draining coolant from the system. Per J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers should be implemented to secure the heater core's position by repositioning heater hose inlet and outlet clamps for subsequent hose removal. The RH and LH instrument panel closeout/insulator panels must be removed together with floor carpet and communication interface module. Start by dissembling the rear floor air outlet duct from its hole locations in the floor reinforcement before detaching it from the heater core outlet cover. The HVAC module assembly requires a small chisel to detach the heater core outlet cover after removing heat stakes screws along with heater core outlet cover screws. The procedure requires repeating for the heater core cover by removing its screws and heat stakes with a small chisel after which you can extract the heater core and its foam seal from the HVAC module assembly. The installation begins with placing the new heater core foam seal on the HVAC module assembly before installation of the heater core. Use a 5.5 mm (7/32 in) drill bit to pierce the dimples near the heat stakes on the heater core cover internal side before installing the cover along with its screws to achieve a 1.5 N.m (13 lb in) torque. Reposition the heater core outlet cover and its screws through the same drilling process before securing them at 1.5 N.m tension (13 lb in torque value). Installation of the rear floor air outlet duct to the heater core outlet cover includes fitting it through the floor reinforcement holes. Replace the communication interface module as well as the floor carpet and insulator panel assemblies on both the right-hand side and left-hand side. To complete the task install the heater core inlet and outlet hoses while using Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) to reset the clamps before adding coolant.
