2008 Buick LaCrosse Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the Heater Core on 2008 Buick LaCrosse?
A: Draining coolant should be the first step before replacing the heater core. Adjust and detach the heater core inlet and outlet clamps by operating Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) before removing each hose connection. The installer should first remove the RH and LH instrument panel closeout/insulator panels together with the floor carpet and communication interface module. Remove the rear floor air outlet duct after detaching it from the holes in the floor reinforcement and from the heater core outlet cover. Begin by using a chisel to remove the heater core outlet cover while cutting off its heat stakes, after which the heater core cover with its heat stakes will also be removed using the small chisel. Extract the heater core and heater core foam seal from the HVAC module assembly unit. Drill the heater core dimples with a 5.5 mm (7/32 in) drill and insert the cover afterwards before tightening screws to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in). After installing the heater core with its new foam seal, replace the heater core cover. Repeating the heater core outlet cover drilling and installation allows you to connect the duct from the rear floor air outlet before reinstalling the cover into the floor reinforcement. Safely reinstall the communication interface module in addition to the floor carpet followed by the RH and LH instrument panel closeout/insulator panels. The last step includes attaching heater core inlet and outlet hoses followed by using Hose Clamp Pliers (J 38185) to adjust clamps before filling the system with coolant.
