  • Q: How to replace the A/C Hose Assembly (LY7) on 2008 Buick LaCrosse?
    A: Recovering all refrigerant should be your first step before starting the replacement of the compressor hose assembly (LY7). Throughout the process of replacing the compressor hose assembly (LY7) remove the air cleaner assembly designed for the 3.6l (LY7) engine. First disconnect the A/C Compressor hose from the condenser after removing its hose nut from the condenser. Remove the A/C Compressor hose nut from both the evaporator tube along with the hose from the same tube. The following step involves removing the A/C Compressor hose nut from the compressor assembly plus hose removal from the compressor assembly before discarding all washer seals. New sealing washers should be installed on the A/C Compressor hose assembly before fitting the hose to the A/C Compressor while torquing the nut to 17 n.m (12.5 lb ft). New sealing washers should be installed onto the A/C Compressor hose assembly before attaching the hose to the evaporator tube. When mounting these components tighten the nut to 17 n.m (12.5 lb ft). Use 20 mm wrenches or pliers to stabilize the a/c condenser block fitting because torquing the a/c line requires preventing hose rotation then secure the nut at 17 n.m (12.5 lb ft). You should reinstall the air cleaner assembly for the 3.6l (LY7) engine before performing an evacuation and recharge of the a/c system. The last step requires the j 39400-a halogen leak detector to test the component fittings for leaks.
