2008 Buick LaCrosse Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve in an A/C system on 2008 Buick LaCrosse?
A: The replacement of thermal expansion valve (TXV) begins with refrigerant recovery of the a/c system. You must remove the Evaporator tube to txv nut then disconnect the Evaporator outlet and inlet tube from the txv before discarding the sealing washers. Contaminants should be blocked from entering the open Evaporator inlet and outlet tubes by covering them with tape or caps. The process of txv removal from Evaporator core includes disconnecting it by removing bolts then discarding sealing washers. New sealing washers should be placed onto the Evaporator core before you install the txv followed by tightening txv to Evaporator bolts to 7 n.m (62 lb in). Reinstall new sealing washers on the Evaporator tubes before you attach them to the txv after removing tape or caps from these tubes. Torque the Evaporator tube nut to a value of 17 n.m (12.5 lb ft). Evacuate and recharge the air conditioning system after finishing while using a halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) to test for leaks in all fittings.
