2007 Buick LaCrosse Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the automatic transmission shift cable on 2007 Buick LaCrosse?
A: You should remove the air cleaner intake duct before detaching the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the wiring harness clip or strap while removing its cable retainer. Detaching the cable starts with pressing the tabs that connect it to the automatic transaxle range selector lever and cable bracket. Start by taking out the front floor console and then remove the carpet layer to reach the cable if the floor console is present. Detach the cable retainer from the console shift control before removing the cable and its bracket from the console shift control. You need to get rid of the left knee bolster before extracting the cable from the shift control lever of vehicles using steering column shift controls. The cable end requires attachment of mechanics wire which serves to pass through the cowl's hole. To install the cable you must pass it through the cowl hole after taking out the mechanics wire. The shift control cable must be connected to its lever while reattaching the left knee bolster. The floor console shift control installation requires cable connection to both console shift control bracket and control unit while securing the retainer properly in position during the process. After moving the carpet away put the front floor console in place while routing the cable correctly. Fix the cable into the specified points between the cable bracket and the selector lever while placing the retainer. Set both the transaxle and the shift control to neutral after sliding in the metal end fitting of the shift control cable to the transaxle cable end until the pieces snap securely. Single depression of the adjuster clip unlocks the adjuster housing while you position the fittings correctly before complete clip depression reinforces the adjusted service position. To complete system adjustment use a pulling motion on the conduit while making sure that the clip with the tab lays flat against the surface. The cable needs to be installed to the wiring harness clip or strap followed by cable adjustment before reinstalling the air cleaner intake duct.
