2007 Cadillac CTS Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the radiator (LP1, LY7) on 2007 Cadillac CTS?
A: Replacement of the Radiator (LP1, LY7) requires draining all coolant fluid first. The first step to replace the Radiator (LP1, LY7) involves removing both the Radiator support brackets and cooling fans before unbolting the two mounting points for the condenser. You must use hose clamp pliers (J 38185) when disconnecting the lower Radiator Hose from its attachment at the Radiator. The front air deflector removal allows access to disconnect the lower transaxle oil cooler line from the Radiator using transmission cooler quick disconnect (J 44827). After detaching the lower condenser mounting bolts and push pins from the Radiator side seal, pull apart the side seals from the Radiator. Lower the car then remove the Radiator unit. The new Radiator should be placed into the insulating frame before installing the upper condenser bolts which need 6.5 n.m (58 lb in) torque. After raising the vehicle, install lower condenser mounting bolts then torque them to the identical specification. Insinuate both lower transaxle oil cooler lines into the Radiator until locked in position then check the connection by lightly dragging your fingers on the lines. Set the hose clamp with hose clamp pliers (J 38185) into its previous position and push the Radiator side seal shut while verifying complete sealing for all components. Lower the vehicle before installing the cooling fans together with the Radiator supports then proceed to add coolant into the system.
