2007 Cadillac XLR A/C Expansion Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the A/C Expansion Valve in an A/C system on 2007 Cadillac XLR?
A: The first step before changing the thermal expansion valve is to extract refrigerant from the a/c system. The procedure starts by taking off the rear Evaporator line assembly followed by the txv to Evaporator core mounting bolts before disconnecting the txv from the Evaporator and completely removing the piece from the vehicle. The technicians must either discard Evaporator core seal washers and preserve evaporation port cap intact or implement tape cover to protect the Evaporator core. Install new seal washers before you can connect the txv with the Evaporator core while removing protective tape or cap from the Evaporator core first. Secure the txv by tightening its mounting bolts on the Evaporator core to 7 n.m (62 lb in). After reinstallation of the rear Evaporator line assembly continue by evacuating then charging the a/c system. To conclude the process utilize the halogen leak detector (J 39400-A) to conduct fitting leak checks on the component part.
