2007 Chevrolet Equinox Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the cooling fan and fan shroud on 2007 Chevrolet Equinox?
A: Start the cooling fan and shroud replacement by draining the coolant with ge-47716 (1617 Vac N Fill Coolant Refill Tool) after you remove the front fascia. First detach the electrical wires from motor connectors while unfastening the wire harness from the fan assembly. Securely break the condenser Radiator fan module (CRFM) closeout panel retainers along with the closeout panel from the condenser while removing the front impact bar. Removing crfm mounting bracket bolts from Radiator support allows you to take out the attaching brackets. Start with disconnecting the transmission cooler lines followed by detaching the inlet hose and Radiator clamp from the Radiator and unclipping their attachment from the fan assembly. The first step involves removing both fan assembly bolts from the Radiator before extracting the fan assembly from the vehicle. When installing the fan assembly reposition it within the vehicle while putting back both Radiator and condenser assemblies into their mounting position. Secure the Radiator using fan assembly bolts to a torque of 9 n.m corresponding to 80 lb in. You should reattach the inlet hose to the Radiator while installing its clamp then add the cooler lines to the fan assembly that will connect to the Radiator. Screw down the crfm mounting brackets using bolts while tightening them to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). After reinstalling the front impact bar and crfm closeout panel with their retainers you must clip the engine wire harness to the fan assembly. Connect wire connectors to fan motors before putting back the front fascia while filling up the cooling system.
