2008 GMC Canyon Valve Stem Oil Seal Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the valve guide seal, replace the valve stem oil seal, and valve spring on 2008 GMC Canyon?
A: You need to raise and position the vehicle before starting work on the Valve Stem Oil Seal service and replacement tasks. First step is to put the en 46547 tool into the Flywheel teeth before the setup phase. Begin your repair sequence by taking out both camshafts and spark plugs. Place the j-44228-a base plate over the targeted Spark Plug position then insert the j 39313 into this slot under compressed air to block the valve. Insert the j-44228-a arm assembly over the screw post that needs servicing while remembering the strong valve spring resistance. The swivel nut should be tightened only until you reach the valve locks before using a magnet to extract them. Use the swivel arm to remove the valve spring retainer and spring after you loose the swivel nut. Use the j 38820 tool to grip and take out the old Valve Stem Oil Seal by rotating and pulling it. To start installation place engine oil on the valve stem and inside diameter of the new seal before inserting a seal protector over the valve stem. Then install the Valve Stem Oil Seal using the j 38820 by twisting and pushing down. Position the valve spring and retainer holder over the part before fastening the swivel nut until you reach the valve retainers. Place the valve locks into position using j 43059 and pull out the swivel nut and arm before starting with other cylinder valves. Lower air pressure and replace j 39313 from the Spark Plug hole. Take off the j-44228-a base plate for a single cylinder before repeating this process for all other cylinders being maintained. Reinstall the spark plugs and camshafts at the end. Lower the vehicle after putting the service slot plug back in and removing the en 46547 from the Flywheel teeth.
