2009 Cadillac XLR Evaporator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the air conditioning evaporator core on 2009 Cadillac XLR?
A: The replacement process for the air conditioning Evaporator core starts with hvac module removal followed by the disposal of hvac module assembly foam seal. The replacement starts with extracting txv mounting bolts before taking out the txv from the Evaporator core while removing the sealing washers for disposal. Disconnect the discharge temperature management (DTM) sensor electrical connectors as well as the hvac module wiring harness retainer pin from the hvac module. First remove the wire harness from the Heater Core cover retainers and set it to the side before extracting the heater cover screws and heater cover from the hvac module as well as the Heater Core. The upper case disconnectes from the lower case when you remove the hvac module case retaining screws which allows you to get rid of the Evaporator core. To install a new Evaporator core, apply the recommended pag oil at the specified amount directly to it while making sure the side seal rests properly at the corners. To reinstall the core into the hvac module the technician should add new side seals combined with upper outer corner seals and two lower seals. Place the retention screws at the upper and lower case of the hvac module with a torque of 1.6 nm (14 lb in). Insert a new foam seal to the Heater Core before reinstalling it with its cover by tightening cover screws to 1.6 nm (14 lb in). Affix the hvac wiring harness to the Heater Core cover wiring harness retainers along with attaching the hvac module wiring harness retainer pin together with the dtm sensor electrical connectors. You should add new sealing washers to the Evaporator core while attaching a txv before tightening the mounting bolts to 7 nm (62 lb in). Then reinstall the hvac module.
