• Q: How to Replace a Thermostat Housing (LC3) on 2009 Cadillac XLR?

  A: In order to remove the engine coolant Thermostat Housing (LC3), drain the cooling system with cooling system draining and filling (GE 47716). Next, you remove the air cleaner assembly, then take off Radiator Hose and heater hose from the Thermostat Housing. Remove Thermostat Housing bolts and pull out the housing with the Thermostat from the housing, disposing of the seal ring. Clean the sealing surfaces of the Thermostat Housing and water housing and install Thermostat into the Thermostat Housing and a new seal on the Thermostat Housing. Put the Thermostat Housing back and seal to the water housing but make sure to tightening the Thermostat Housing bolts to 10 nm (89 lb in). Plug the heater hose and Radiator Hose back into the Thermostat Housing, finally, reinstall the air cleaner assembly. Lastly, flush the cooling system, with the help of cooling system draining and filling (GE 47716).
